Oracle Java SE Support Roadmap was created by Virginie_Samson
Hello
We rode with attention your last newsletter (#2) - Thanks for all this usefull information !

One part get a special attention ... Oracle Java end of support of Java8.

Our Stambia Server are on 1.7.0.04 (Windows Server 2008 R2)
Our Stambia Desktop are on 1.8.0.121 (Windows 7 SP1)

Does it means that we need to migrate Server and Desktop to Java 11, to be able de use new version of Designer S19.1 ?
And what about Runtime, Web Analytics ?

Can we install 2 version of Java on a Server ? What about the environement variable ?

Thanks for your help
Sincerly
Virginie

Hi Virginie,

Stambia Designer S19.1 will require Java 8+ (mainly because we upgraded our Eclipse platform).
To be realistic, this means Java 8 or Java 11 (versions 9 and 10 are not released with "Long Term Support" by Oracle, so practically they were not adopted by users...).

The Runtime shipped with Designer 19.1 will be compatible with Java 8 and Java 11, we don't know yet if it will work with Java 6&7.

Java 7 and 8 are quite stable and we never had any Stambia support case related to a Java bug requiring a Java fix...
These java versions are still downloadable from the Oracle Java Archive .

There is no emergency to upgrade your Java versions.
We will provide more information in this article soon.
