This article explains how to install a new Stambia DI Designer.

The whole procedure is described with additional notes and information about the points to have in mind.

The installation procedure will guide you to install Stambia DI Designer and also explains the first step to follow after the installation is done.


There are dedicated articles for migration and upgrade procedure for the different major versions.

About installation

This article is dedicated to installing a new Stambia DI Designer.


If you want to perform an upgrade please refer to the migration and upgrade guides instead.


If you are a new Stambia DI user, refer to getting started article which will guide you for your first steps.



Stambia DI Designer requires Java to be installed.

Depending on Stambia DI Designer version, supported Java version will vary.

You can find below information about the Java version to use:

  • Stambia DI Designer 2020 (S20) and higher works with Java 8 and Java 11
  • Stambia DI Designer S17, S18, S19 works with java versions 6, 7, and 8.


Installation procedure


Here are the steps to follow to install a new Stambia DI Designer.


Installation - Stambia DI Designer

  1. Download Stambia DI Designer
  2. Unzip the archive in a new directory
  3. Start the new Designer and select a workspace directory, which will contain your future developments.


Installation - Components and plugins

Stambia DI Designer being installed, you can now install additional Stambia Components and Versioning System's plugins if needed.

Installation - Third part libraries

Finally, you can install the additional third party libraries you need in your local Runtime, such as JDBC drivers, and more...


Stambia DI Designer 2020 (S20)

If you are using Stambia DI Designer 2020 (s20), third party libraries are managed through Modules.


Stambia DI Designer S17, S18, S19

If you are using Stambia DI Designer S17, S18 or S19 you proceed as follow:

  1. Copy your JDBC drivers into the new local stambiaRuntime/lib/jdbc directory


Post Installation Steps

Once you have finished following the installation guide, you can start using your fresh new Stambia DI Designer!

Refer to the corresponding release notes and changelogs to know what have changed.

You can also refer to the tutorials and reference documentation shipped inside Stambia DI Designer's Help Contents.

You can access them from Help > Help Contents menu.
